Description from the seller
Splendid and imposing vintage display set consisting of a rare giant pocket/desk watch model "Goliath" and its original contemporaneous travel case.
Watch: Giant model "Goliath" (Diameter 85 mm, thickness 25 mm). Robust solid-brass case. White enamel dial with large black Roman numerals and a subsidiary dial for the small seconds at 9 o'clock. Antique time-setting system via side button (pin-set) positioned at 1 o'clock, typical of models produced before 1910.
Movement: Mechanical Swiss hand-wound with anchor escapement (Swiss Lever), visible through the display back with a front viewing crystal. Movement operative, features technical regulation indicators Avance/Retard. Large power reserve.
Case: Original square hard case (Measurements: 10.5 x 10.5 x 4 cm) covered in burgundy leather, with protective soft velvet interior and circular front opening for the display of the desk watch. The brass zipper and snap closure bear the prestigious patent mark of the German Empire D.R.G.M. (Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster), attesting to production around the late 19th to early 20th century.
Conditions and Notes: The watch is functioning. The enamel dial shows some fine, classic hairlines (patina cracks) superficially, visible in macro photos. The exterior leather of the case shows beautiful and natural historical wear due to travel, preserving its full charm. Inside the case there is a historical note of complete revision (Révision) carried out on January 27, 2000 by a Swiss master watchmaker in Reconvilier (Canton of Bern), precious testimony to the care given to the object.
Tracked international shipping and full insurance with professionally super-protective packaging.
