Description from the seller
This figurative work immerses us in the nostalgic warmth of a 1950s roller skating rink. Seated on a patinated wooden bench, a young woman with a bob cut ties her quad roller skates in vivid colors — red, blue, and yellow — with a gesture marked by concentration and gentle anticipation. Dressed in a simple yellow T-shirt and black shorts, she embodies the timeless grace of the moment just before the push-off.
The golden light of the setting sun streams through the large glass walls and spreads into broad luminous trapezoids on the varnished parquet, its shimmering reflections seeming to prolong the reverie. The sign “SKATE RINK - EST. 1950” and the wooden counter anchor the scene in a warm, vintage America. The contrast between the skater’s solitary quiet and the vast empty parquet sculpts an atmosphere decidedly “Hopperian.” An invitation to nostalgia, celebrating the suspended beauty of the intimate moment.
