Description from the seller
Title: The Lighthouse Keeper
This figurative work transports us to a rocky, wind-swept coast at the golden hour of twilight. Leaning against the gallery's railing of an old lighthouse, a keeper in a dark jacket and a naval cap gazes at the vast ocean, with his back turned, watching the horizon where a few distant ships drift. His solitary silhouette embodies the fidelity, patience, and devotion of these sentinels of the sea.
The crystal lantern captures the last lights of the setting sun, which set ablaze the whitened tower and make the amber reflections on the tranquil waves glitter. The rugged rocks plunging into a deep-water cove and the cloud-streaked sky compose a setting of great maritime poetry. The contrast between the warm golden light and the deep evening blue shapes a decidedly “Hopperesque” atmosphere. An invitation to contemplation, celebrating the inhabited solitude of man facing the infinity of the sea.
