Description from the seller
THE MOON is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado, inspired by Card XVIII of the tarot, one of the most enigmatic and poetic archetypes in the Western symbolic tradition. The work explores the realm of dreams, intuition, and inner paths, inviting the viewer to enter a landscape where logic gives way to imagination and mystery.
The composition features a large anthropomorphic moon suspended in a night sky studded with stars. Its serene face silently observes the landscape, illuminating a pink path that winds through violet hills until it disappears in the distance. Two towers watch over the horizon like symbolic guardians of an invisible threshold, marking the passage between the known world and the realm of the unknown.
The color palette, dominated by soft violets, delicate pinks, and cream tones, creates an atmosphere of calm and contemplation. The colors seem suspended between reality and dream, reinforcing the introspective nature of the scene. Moonlight becomes a narrative element that guides the gaze and builds a sense of inner travel.
In tarot tradition, The Moon symbolizes intuition, emotional cycles, hidden mysteries, and what has yet to be fully revealed. However, this interpretation does not focus on fear of the unknown, but on the beauty of exploring what cannot be understood solely through reason. The path that runs through the image represents the process of personal discovery, a voyage guided by sensitivity, forebodings, and imagination.
The towers flanking the landscape evoke boundaries, doors, and transitions. Between them opens a symbolic space where the viewer can project their own questions, memories, and desires. The winding path invites progress without fully knowing the destination, reminding us that many of life’s most meaningful experiences arise precisely from uncertainty. Visually, the work blends influences from traditional esoteric illustration with a contemporary graphic sensibility. The defined lines, simplified forms, and compositional clarity bring the piece closer to the universe of illustrated posters and symbolic manuscripts, while the subtle chromaticity adds an intimate and emotional dimension.
THE MOON is a celebration of intuition as a form of knowledge. An invitation to listen to the inner voice, to accept the cycles of transformation, and to find beauty in what remains enveloped in mystery. The work proposes a contemplative pause where the night ceases to be darkness and becomes a space of possibilities, dreams, and silent revelations.
