Description from the seller

THE STAR is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado, inspired by Card XVII of the tarot, one of the most luminous and hopeful symbols of the Western archetypal tradition. The work represents renewal, trust in the future, and the human ability to find light after periods of uncertainty and transformation.

In the center of the composition appears a kneeling female figure beside a spring. With delicacy, she pours water from two jugs, simultaneously feeding the land and the water. This gesture symbolizes the balance between the material world and the spiritual, between what is built in daily reality and what nourishes the inner universe. Above her shines a large eight-pointed star surrounded by smaller stars that illuminate the nocturnal landscape.

The color palette combines deep blues, soft greens, delicate pinks, and warm earth tones, creating an atmosphere of serenity and harmony. The scene conveys a sense of profound calm, as if time had halted in an instant of absolute confidence and connection with nature. In tarot tradition, The Star represents hope, inspiration, and faith in the processes of personal growth. It is the card that appears after the storm, reminding us that every crisis contains the possibility of a new beginning. In this visual interpretation, water becomes a symbol of regeneration and continuity, while the star guides the way toward brighter horizons.

The naked figure does not represent vulnerability, but authenticity. She is shown free of masks and artifices, in a state of full connection with herself and the environment. Her presence embodies the idea that true strength arises when a person allows themselves to be exactly who they are. The natural elements that surround the scene—the flowers, the tree, the mountains, and the water—reinforce the notion of growth and constant renewal. Everything seems to participate in a single vital cycle where each element contributes to the overall balance of the landscape.

Visually, THE STAR combines the classic iconography of the tarot with a contemporary graphic aesthetics. The defined lines, flat colors, and compositional clarity bring the work closer to the world of modern illustration, while the symbolism remains intact with the spiritual depth associated with the original card.

THE STAR is a celebration of hope as a transformative force. An invitation to trust one's own processes, to keep alive the ability to dream, and to remember that even on the darkest nights there is always a star capable of showing the way forward.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
