This stimulating work is framed within contemporary figurative expressionism with urban and illustrative tints, where the portrait of a young woman coexists harmoniously with gestural abstraction. With a palette dominated by cool tones of blue, violet and subtle earth tones, the painter uses impasto brushstrokes to model the flowers that ornament the woman's hair, while deliberately breaking the neatness of the canvas with vertical drips and unfinished (dripping) on the sides. The style astutely plays with the contrast between the semi-realistic technique of the impassive-looking face and the controlled chaos of the textured surroundings, achieving that the author conveys a deep sense of youthful melancholy, vulnerability and an ephemeral beauty that seems to fade or emerge directly from the raw background of the canvas.
