Oil painting:
- Unframed (height x width): 60 cm x 50 cm
- Framed (height x width): 71 cm x 61 cm
Gerardus Johannes Ernens was born on 4 March 1935 in Utrecht. The painter showed his talent from an early age and developed into a painter with a style all his own. A style very popular with audiences. At a young age he came into contact with the very well-known painter John Bévort, who helped him develop his talent. After Bévort, he collaborated for some time with the interior- and church-painter Jan Jumelet, also certainly a notable figure.
Gerardus gained fame mainly for his colorful, somewhat suggestive and relief-like landscapes and flower compositions. In particular, his flower compositions are highly sought after. Several exhibitions of his work have been held, and Gerardus is a member of the International Organization of Free Art. Gerardus has been from the very first hour a painter of the palette knife. A technique he masters in detail and that distinguishes him from other artists. His paintings have a light impressionistic touch and are nevertheless clearly recognizable.
