Artist MEDSAN presents Kintsugi Geisha Porcelain (金継ぎ芸者) – UNIQUE EDITION (Edition 1), a 40 × 40 cm giclée signed by the artist in 2026, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
There exists only one unique work, a single exemplar!
With this square-format artwork, Medsan guides us into a contemporary and poetic reimagining of the Japanese tradition, merging the blue-and-white porcelain aesthetic (Arita/Imari style) with the philosophy of kintsugi. This giclee features a majestic courtesan with a spectacular coiffure, bristling with kanzashi pins arranged in a fan, dressed in a sumptuous kimono adorned with phoenixes, peonies, and stylized waves in a deep blue palette highlighted with vermilion accents. The visual impact and conceptual strength of the composition lie in the surface treatment: the entire image is traversed by a network of golden craquelure, like precious ceramic broken and repaired with fine gold according to the ancestral art of kintsugi. Far from masking the cracks, the work elevates them, celebrating the beauty of imperfection and resilience (wabi-sabi). The ivory background, with its crackled surface, evokes the aged enamel of a collectible porcelain, while the gold veins serpentine across the face and adornments of the beauty, imparting a startling sense of preciousness and spiritual depth. The bold lines and flatness of color scrupulously honor the codes of ukiyo-e printmaking while infusing them with a pop-art vitality. A conceptual piece, both aesthetic, poetic, and deeply symbolic, ideal for bringing a touch of elegance, graphic refinement, and sophistication to a modern, design-conscious interior.

About the Atelier: Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a vibrant and plural contemporary creation. Set up as a genuine art-production space, the studio operates both in collaborative creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop-art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive research, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist.
