Alonso Cuesta - Mangos frescos

Rodrigo Alonso Cuesta (Burgos, 1982). Resides in Spain.

This graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Burgos has had a distinguished academic background, complemented by experiences abroad thanks to the Erasmus scholarships he undertook in Portugal and Belgium.

His artistic activity focuses mainly on oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, digital art, and paper, where he creates paintings, drawings and collages. His style is characterized by a rich, vivid, and expressive color range, as well as a plástico compositive style with dynamic and unusual perspectives, influenced by his passion for analog photography.

The themes he addresses in his works are “landscapes, still lifes and portraits… that’s all,” following the famous quote by David Hockney. Although his work starts from figurative representation, he has recently begun to experiment with geometric abstraction, always in large, expansive formats.

This artist has participated in numerous exhibitions at the national level, with a special focus on northern Spain. For over 20 years, he has presented his work in various towns, such as Burgos, Teruel, Vitoria and Salamanca, where his work is especially recognized. He has also won painting awards at both national and international levels, which demonstrates his talent and recognition in the art world.

Recently he won the prize of the III Motril Art Contest. 2024.

In addition to his presence in exhibitions, his works are part of multiple private collections around the world. This shows that his work is not only appreciated by the general public but also by collectors and art lovers who value his unique style and technical skill.
