Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan takes us on a striking and dystopian mashup, merging the aesthetics of antique prints with aged paper and the icon of cult science-fiction cinema: the Terminator. This serigraph depicts, in close-up and profile, the emblematic steel skull of the T-800 cyborg, its metal endoskeleton meticulously detailed — gears, pistons, cables and chrome plates — topped by its incandescent red eye piercing the darkness. The visual impact and the power of the composition reside in the graphic treatment: the bold black line rendering and gray wash evoke traditional engraving, while the mustard-crème speckled and stained background imitates the aged washi paper of old prints. The vertical cartouche at the top right, bearing the characters "鋼の死神" (the Angel of Steel/Harbinger of Death) and "ターミネーター" (Terminator) in katakana, as well as the red hanko seal at the bottom, firmly anchor this technological monster in the tradition of Japanese imagery. The contrast between the machine’s implacable coldness and the warmth of the old support creates a powerful visual tension. A conceptual piece, both aesthetic, dark and nostalgic, ideal for bringing a pop, graphic touch and deeply cinephile sensibility to a modern design interior.

About the Studio: Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathered around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true place of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented towards pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
Keywords: Medsan, Atelier Joconde, Le Yack, Terminator, T-800, Skynet, Cyborg, Robot, Science fiction, Cinema, Aged print, Washi, Hanko, Ukiyo-e, Japanese print, Pop Art, Mashup, Square format, Anachronism, Contemporary, Dystopia, Edo
