MEDSAN, Sumi-e Golden Shogun, a 40 × 40 cm giclée from 2026, signed, in a unique 1/1 limited edition from France, depicting a pop art-inspired samurai shogun with gold detailing.
Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan pays powerful homage to the warrior tradition of feudal Japan, through the ancestral technique of sumi-e (Chinese ink painting) enhanced with gold leaf. This giclée features a standing shogun, an absolute command figure, clad in a majestic samurai armor (ô-yoroi) with meticulous lacing, wearing a kabuto helmet topped with imposing gold horns (kuwagata). The visual impact and the strength of the composition reside in the contrast between mastery of black and white and the radiance of gold: the armor body is rendered in a subtle gradient of gray washes and deep blacks, while the adornments — helmet horns, ornaments, scabbard and katana handle — flare with real gold leaf. The warrior, with a stern and determined gaze, holds his sword horizontally in a solemn guard stance. The background, treated with dynamic ink splashes and splatters (splash style), evokes the frenzy of the battlefield and gives the scene a raw, spontaneous energy. A conceptual piece, at once aesthetic, noble, and timeless, ideal for introducing a graphic, refined, and powerful touch to a contemporary design interior.

About the Studio: Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family adventure. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
Keywords: Medsan, Atelier Joconde, Le Yack, Shogun, Samurai, Sumi-e, Chinese Ink, Gold Leaf, Armor, Katana, Kabuto, Bushido, Warrior, Japanese Tradition, Black and White, Gold, Square format, Contemporary, Nobility, Edo
