Luigi Brambati was an Italian painter and engraver. He trained in Milan where, in 1945, he attended the Castello Art School.
On this occasion he befriended many other artists of Lombard vedutismo of the 20th century, such as Fedeli, Consadori, Castellani, Moro, Labò, Barbieri and Novello.
He took part in Milanese exhibitions at La Permanente and at Brera. A landscape painter, he is drawn to lagoon views and worked in Burano and the other islands. He is then drawn to Brittany where he moves and works for a long time. In Italy he collaborates regularly with the Ponterosso Gallery in Milan.
Rossana Bossaglia writes, in the catalog introduction to the solo show at Galleria Ponte Rosso in 1993: "Brambati has behind him a naturalism with clear, thus vital and light traits, but at the same time the tendency, inherited from the twentieth century, toward the rigorous and summarily synthesized images, especially in the figures. This double characterization, which often translates into landscape animation, with characters drawn quickly up to the threshold of the silhouette, in the postwar period meets the great Neorealism lesson; and it yields a simplification and strengthening of the sign, which keeps Brambati from the temptation - easy, in a gifted artist with a keen gaze and a quick hand - toward decorative pleasures."
