THE ENGRAVED LID COVER
The top of the motor housing is formed by a decorative brass plate in which the months and days of the year are engraved. You can set the model so that you can follow in real time the relative positions of the Earth, Moon and Sun.
MOVEMENT ON A SMALL SCALE
The most striking component of the tellurium is the magnificently engraved brass motor housing containing the gearing and the power regulator. It displays the 12 astronomical constellations with which you can trace the Earth's orbit around the Sun.
The gear ratios are calculated precisely to reproduce the motion of Earth and Moon exactly. At the highest speed of the motor the model completes a day in two seconds. A month requires 60 seconds while a year lasts 12 minutes. The model can also be operated manually, with adjustable speed. The Moon, with a width of over 5 degrees, is also constructed.
MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION
The gears are made of solid brass.
The cast spheres are high-quality ABS, are meticulously painted and show the surface of the Sun, the continents, oceans and polar masses of the Earth and the craters, highlands and plains of the Moon.
The Sun contains an integrated LED lamp.
The model’s Earth axis has the same inclination as our home world; the tellurium thus realistically shows the passage of the seasons as the Earth orbits the Sun.
Upon shipping, some parts are shipped loose. They are easy to reassemble. The model is packed in a plastic tray with bubble wrap and then placed in a cardboard box.
If desired by email, a video of assembly in Dutch and English
