Description from the seller
Rare Vintage Mid-Century Ceramic Desk Inkwell with Perpetual Calendar – "ALFA MADE IN ITALY" (1950s)
A stunning and rare vintage desk set dating back to the 1950s, a fine example of Italian Mid-Century Modern design. Featuring an aerodynamic boat shape decorated with a black grid pattern on a white glazed ceramic base with a soft blue interior, it strongly recalls the popular Atomic Age design style. Stamped on the bottom is the authentic "ALFA MADE IN ITALY" mark.
The ceramic body is in exceptional condition, completely intact with no chips or cracks, preserving its original glaze intact over time. Centered on the set is an original mechanical perpetual calendar, which is fully functional as shown in the images displaying different dates.
The piece features its original tilting brass socket with its vintage desk pen, all elevated on classic 1950s brass legs. The item shows minor and natural signs of wear due to age, which do not compromise in any way the overall beauty and vintage charm of the piece. The dimensions are 30 x 15 x 29 cm with a total weight of 0.5 kg.
