Description from the seller
Garden Sculpture Italian Iron Forged - Airone / Crane with Natural Patina (Late '60s / '70s) - H 60 cm
Fascinating garden art sculpture of Italian manufacture depicting a wading waterfowl (Heron or Crane), entirely made of wrought iron and dating back to the late 1960s / 1970s.
This piece stands out for its excellent and meticulous artisanal craftsmanship typical of the Italian forge tradition of the period: the body plumage is faithfully rendered through the geometric layering of individual textured metal plates, which create a dynamic three-dimensional effect. The slender, elegant head features engraved details and a bold ornamental crest, while the textured legs stand on a solid leaf-shaped marsh base. The animal is captured in the classic, noble heraldic pose on a single leg.
The sculpture preserves its extraordinary original rust patina, uniform and superficial, accumulated over decades of outdoor exposure. This oxidation does not affect the structural solidity of the iron but gives the object exceptional vintage charm and a “wabi-sabi” aesthetic, perfect for enhancing modern gardens, porches, or design interiors.
Dimensions:
Height: 60 cm
Width: 15 cm / Depth: 25 cm
Weight: 3 kg
