AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Eliza Kołodziej (b. 2000, Poland)
“Evening in Warsaw”, 2023
Oil on canvas
100 × 80 cm (unframed, ready to hang)

This painting shows the illuminated dome of a Warsaw building at dusk, caught in a moment of quiet balance between light and shadow.

The structure is reduced to its essential form – a dark, heavy base and a glowing lantern above it. The warm yellow light is contained and precise, standing out against the muted, grey sky. The low clouds reflect the city’s illumination, creating a soft, diffused background that contrasts with the sharp clarity of the architecture.

The composition is simple and focused, allowing the light itself to carry the image. The scene feels still and controlled, yet slightly detached, as if observed from a distance during an evening walk.

The painting is ready to hang and will be shipped in secure, multi-layered packaging with an insured, tracked delivery and a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Seller's Story

I am Eliza Kołodziej, a Polish painter (b. 2000) and MFA graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where I completed my diploma with the highest distinction. I create oil paintings focused on urban spaces, often exploring moments of tension, emptiness and quiet unease – places that feel familiar but slightly off. My work is rooted in traditional painting techniques, with a strong attention to light, material and atmosphere. Alongside painting, I also work with textile and craft-based practices, which influence my sensitivity to structure and surface. My works have been exhibited in galleries such as Bacalarte Gallery and A10 Gallery, as well as in group exhibitions at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. I am a recipient of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship and multiple Rector’s Scholarships for outstanding artistic achievement. All artworks offered here come directly from my studio. Each piece is original, carefully finished and shipped securely with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
