Description from the seller
I paint with a palette knife. Always. The knife gives me something direct and physical — I can feel the resistance of the canvas, the weight of the paint, the exact moment a plane becomes what I want it to be. I work on heavyweight 390 g/m² canvas because it holds the impasto without compromise. The paint surface of this work is heavily built up — textured, tactile, visible from across the room in a way that no reproduction can fully capture.
Two Faces, One Soul came from a single question: what does it look like when two people share the same inner world? Not two strangers — two presences so close that the boundary between them has dissolved. I fractured the faces into geometric planes and rebuilt them side by side, overlapping at the centre where a dark axis runs through the composition like a spine — not a division, but the thing that holds them together.
Cobalt blue in the shadows. Cadmium red at the lips — the only place in the painting where emotion breaks the surface openly. Ochre and sienna in the skin planes. Olive green moving through the brows and upper geometry like something settled and permanent. The black contour lines are drawn into wet paint — they are not decoration, they are the tension between two people who have chosen to remain one.
Artist: Corina Dinu, Romanian, b. 1979. Studied Fine Arts and at the Istituto Marangoni. Exhibited internationally, including at the Tate Gallery and Rippingham, London.
