A vintage table from Spain dating to 1950–1960, with an iron frame and a wooden top.
Description from the seller
It is a mid-20th-century vintage table that plays with two very characteristic languages of the era: on one hand, the naturalistic and almost narrative aesthetics of the tabletop; on the other, the gold-toned metal framework that imitates bamboo canes, a playful exotic nod very present in decorative furniture of the 50s and 60s.
The tabletop features a scene of deer in the forest, rendered in a soft contrast of tones that recalls Central European winter illustrations: an adult stag and two young deer in a snowy clearing, surrounded by bare trees. The composition has that serene, contemplative air that many postwar decorative pieces sought, where nature became an aesthetic refuge. The image is not striking or overly detailed; it is designed to accompany, to create atmosphere, almost like a print translated into furniture.
The structure, in gold-painted iron with a finish that imitates bamboo, provides visual lightness and a sophisticated touch. That faux-bamboo metal was a very popular resource in Europe and the United States during mid-century, associated with elegant, warm interiors and slightly orientalist. The gold, softened by time, gives the table a warm, domestic shine, without pretensions of excessive luxury.
Overall, it is a piece fully coherent with mid-20th-century decor, when functional was mixed with artistic and exotic with naturalistic. A table that not only serves but tells a small story on its surface.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
