Description from the seller
MARC LACROIX (1927–2007)
Salvador Dalí – Intimate Portraits
5 original black and white photographic proofs
Set of three original photographic proofs made by the French photographer Marc Lacroix, close collaborator and personal friend of Salvador Dalí and Gala since the early 1970s. The images show the artist in the intimacy of Portlligat, far from official portraits and with the spontaneity that characterizes Lacroix's photographic work.
The present photographs correspond to the extraordinary documentary work carried out by Marc Lacroix during the seventies, from which numerous international exhibitions and the renowned catalog “Dalí, Lacroix, Gala. The Privilege of Intimacy,” published in 2000 would later emerge. (Instituto Cervantes)
They are photographic proofs printed by the photographer himself in the 1970s, printed on Ilford paper of approximately 30 × 40 cm, preserving the full strength and tonal quality of the era's analog prints.
The close relationship between Marc Lacroix and Salvador Dalí gave rise to one of the most important photographic testimonies about the final years of the master of surrealism. Since 1970, Lacroix documented both daily life and numerous artistic projects of Dalí, becoming one of his reference photographers. (Andrew Weiss Gallery)
Technique: black and white photography, analog print on Ilford paper.
Measurements: 30 × 40 cm (approx.).
Print date: 1970s.
