Description from the seller
Visual artist Peter Klashorst (born 1957) quickly gained prominence after graduating in 1981 from the Amsterdam Rietveld Academy. As a co-initiator of the artists' collective 'After Nature', Klashorst gave a new impulse to Dutch art history.
'After Nature' positioned itself against abstract expressionism and in the eighties and nineties made its mark with a renewed figurative painting style. For his progressive work and unique personal style, Klashorst had already won several prizes. He exhibits both at home and abroad.
His passion for painting has not prevented him from engaging with other art forms. He plays guitar in the rock band Soviet Sex and has presented several television programs.
Peter Klashorst is one of the most controversial and recognizable Dutch artists of the past decades. His work is raw, direct and uncompromising: large expressive figures, vivid colors and an unmistakable presence. Klashorst spent years working in Amsterdam, Berlin and Africa, and let all those experiences flow unfiltered back into his canvases.
