Description from the seller
Beautiful and exceptional pair of Vieux Bruxelles spill vases, made in Belgium circa 1840–1860. The vases are crafted in fine white hard porcelain and richly decorated with refined hand-painted gilding, graceful rocaille ornaments, and a central bouquet of separately molded and hand-attached polychrome flowers.
The elegant form, abundant gilding, and the characteristic three-dimensional floral decoration are typical of high-quality Brussels porcelain from the mid-19th century. The undecorated back emphasizes the richly worked front, as is common with luxury spill vases from this period.
The vases are in good antique condition with normal signs of use and aging. One vase shows a few old, stable hairlines in the foot with no visible restorations. The photos are an integral part of the description.
Dimensions (per vase)
Height: 29 cm
Width: 24 cm
Depth: 18.5 cm
Foot: 15 cm
Total weight (pair): 3.58 kg
An impressive and decorative collection pair that forms a beautiful example of the luxurious production of Vieux Bruxelles porcelain from the 19th century. This large size is considerably less often seen on the market than smaller examples.
