Description from the seller
14 of the 24 double issues of the work The King of Cooks, written by Giovanni Nelli, former president of the Society of Cooks of Milan, and published by the historic Nerbini publishing house in Florence. This Nerbini-printed edition dates primarily to the year 1930. Sold at the popular price of 50 centesimi of a lira. The covers are framed by a rich decorative woodcut that depicts fruit, vegetables, game, and kitchen utensils (knives, spoons, forks), typical of Nerbini’s editorial style from the early 20th century. The issues were bought weekly or biweekly at newsstands to be bound together, forming the massive final encyclopedic volume that contains over 1500 recipes. Issue 47-48 contains 32 pages and collects 47 recipes dedicated to Gelatins, Jams, Ice Creams and Liqueurs, and is the last in the series containing the general index of the entire work. Each issue contains about forty recipes on the topics indicated on the cover. Those who purchased and kept all issues would, once bound, form a substantial volume of exactly 779 pages in total. The issues are not bound and are all in good condition, readable and complete in every part. Ideal for starting a collection already well advanced or to be consulted individually. The items for sale are the ones visible in the photos.
