Description from the seller
David Law
Multidisciplinary photographer artist – Creator of contemporary images
As a multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Then he was intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, and extended this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave”, evoking the subject's artistic universe. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 copies numbered + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with flexible UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also a photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a writer-performer and musician body of work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photobook and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
