Frame - Wood

Rectangular picture frame carved from moulded wood and decorated in stucco relief (impressed plaster), gilded in gold. The ornament, echoing patterns of the Baroque and Neo-Rococo woodcraft traditions, runs along the four uprights with a sinuous, wavy flow and twisted cartouches, enriched by stylized acanthus leaf motifs that culminate at the centers and in the four corners with small projecting pediments. The inner rabbet is smooth and linear, creating a clear visual separation from the ornate profile of the outer edge. At the back, the frame shows a linear, twentieth‑century workshop construction, entirely lacquered with a dark priming color (black) to stabilize the wood and to contrast with, and enhance, the gilding on the front. In good condition with some signs of age.
