German porcelain cachepot vase in the Meissen tradition, cylindrical and flared with gilt decorations and a cobalt blue band, stamped Meissen on the foot, dimensions 11.5 cm high by 19 cm wide by 14 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Cachepot / Decorative Vase
Period: 20th century
Materials: Hard porcelain, polychrome enamels, gold leaf
Dimensions: 11.5 x 14 x 14 cm
Important white, glaze-fired cachepot in cylindrical shape that narrows toward the bottom, equipped with two ear-like side handles adorned with large shell motifs, entirely gilded in gold. The decorative scheme stands out for a rich cobalt blue upper band, decorated with “oeil de perdrix” (partridge eye) and embellished with a dense geometric pattern of interlaced rings in gold. Below the rim, a continuous festoon of polychrome floral garlands, finely hand-painted, is suspended from small gilded rings. On the two main faces, two different vivid naturalistic scenes depict exotic birds resting on leafy branches: the first shows a crested bird with warm orange tones and reddish plumage, while the second presents a bird in a dynamic pose with wings spread, characterized by pink, yellow, and green shades.
At the back of the body, near a handle, there is a thin, filiform blue glaze line under the glaze. Beneath the base, the piece bears a Meissen mark in cobalt blue under the glaze with a cursive monogram surmounted by a geometric symbol and the initials W.J. impressed on the inner edge of the foot.
Very good overall condition. The porcelain is intact in the main structure, with no chips or obvious restorations. A minimal, physiological wear of the gilding along the upper edge is noted. The enamels of the pictorial decorations are vivid and well preserved.
