MB 112 Report:
Bir Ounane 004 21°51.8568'N, 3°16.7766'W
Gao, Mali
Search: 2023
Classification: Ungrouped carbonaceous chondrite
History: Numerous samples were found totaling 12.158 kg in Mali, 3.5 km northwest of the Bir Ounane001 site. Salek Mrabih and Sidi al Arbi host the main masses.

Physical characteristics: The rock has an irregular, flattened shape and lacks a fusion crust. The cut surface is dark orange-brown and has a poikilitic texture.

Petrography: Description and classification (A. Love, App) The specimen shows a poikilitic texture composed of: 0.5 mm to 1 cm sized clinoenstatite, olivine, pyroxene, shocked plagioclase, metal FeNi and troilite. Olivine, pyroxene and plagioclase appear as interstitial phases and as chadacrysts. Olivine also occurs in aggregates of equigranular interstitial grains near the oikocrystals of clinoenstatite. Additional minerals are: troilite, schreibersite and daubreelite.

Geochemistry: (A. Love, App) Olivine (Fa 1.0±0.1, Fe/Mn=4.1±0.8, n=12); low-Ca pyroxene (Fs 1.3±0.1 Wo 0.9±0.4, Fe/Mn=2.7±0.8, n=12); high-Ca pyroxene (Fs 0.8±0.3 Wo 40.3±1.0, Fe/Mn=2.3±0.8, n=8); plagioclase (An 36.9±8.1 Or 0.2 _0.1, n=6).

Classification: primitive ungrouped carbonaceous chondrite. Based on petrographic features, reduced mineral compositions, and find coordinates, this sample is possibly paired with ungrouped carbonaceous chondrites Bir Ounane 001 and 003.

Specimens: Salek Mrabih (Dominion Meteors) holds the main masses. A polished thin section and a final cut weighing 21.4 g are deposited in
