Figures on a country path, a 19th‑century oil painting by Joseph Thors (1835–1920), Realism, United Kingdom, 39 × 29 cm with frame, hand signed and in good condition.
Description from the seller
I am offering a superb 19th century oil on canvas of figures in a country path, by Dutch/British artist Joseph Thors, 1835-1920. Signed bottom right.
The painting measures 29 x 19 cm with the frames 39 x 29 cm.
Condition of the paintings is good. Please view all pics for accurate condition. Light handling marks. Ready to hang.
Thors hailed from The Netherlands but moved to London early in life to pursue a career in the arts. Inspired by the Dutch Old Masters, such as Meindert Hobbema (1638-1709), he brought a sturdiness to the British rural idyll - capturing picturesque views with a spirited touch.
Please note. Due to the fragile nature of old frames and glass, our shippers do not provide insurance for any damage caused during transit. We go to great lengths to ensure each painting is packed and protected to a very high standard but sadly cannot compensate or refund for any damage occurring to frames or glass during transit. Therefore the frame and any glass is a gift to you with zero value and you are bidding on the artwork only.
Due to Brexit, there are delays at EU customs borders though the situation is improving. Please do not blame me for delays or any customs duty payable. I really appreciate your understanding and patience. Steve.
