Karl Papesch (1901-1983) - Blumenstilleben

A still life of flowers by the Vienna-born painter Karl Papesch (1901-1983), image size 31 × 25.5 cm, frame size 39.5 × 34 cm, oil on canvas, signed lower right in red, dating unknown. Karl Papesch was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR for many years and belonged to the artist group "Das Ufer."
The painting shows a bouquet in a dark vessel. Dominant are yellow and warm orange tones, which stand out from the deeply toned background. The nuanced modelling of the blossoms as well as the fine color transitions attest to high artistic quality. The work is housed in a deep gray wooden frame with slight signs of age.
