Description from the seller
Print by Tetsuya Noda (野田 哲也, born in 1940), regarded as the most important living Japanese printmaker, winner of the Grand Prize at the Tokyo Biennale 1968 and the Grand Prize at Ljubljana 1977, decorated with the Order of the Sacred Treasure by the Emperor of Japan in 2015.
From his famous autobiographical series "Diary", this work captures a moment of the artist's daily life dated November 26, 1998. The technique used — a combination of mimeograph (a Japanese artisanal reproduction method) and screen printing on washi (traditional Japanese paper) — is Noda's absolute signature, a process he invented and of which he is a world pioneer.
The work is signed in pencil at the bottom right and bears the artist's fingerprint accompanied by his red seal — personal authentication characteristic of Noda across his entire Diary series. Numbered 41/100. Dry stamp of the publisher at the bottom left.
Provenance: Daniel Cordier's estate, Paris — a reference French gallery owner and collector, pioneer of Informal Art and Art Brut.
Sheet: 30 × 42 cm. Framed under glass, natural wood frame.
