DESCRIPTION
Riviera a Dolo
Oil on panel
Work dimensions: 50 x 60 cm
Dimensions with frame: 70 x 80 cm

In "Riviera a Dolo," Alberto Candian tackles one of the subjects closest to his painting sensibility: the Veneto landscape along the Brenta Riviera. The painting depicts the historic architectures facing the riverbank, recalling the atmosphere of ancient villas and buildings tied to the Venetian 18th-century civility.
The composition is built with balance, through a synthesis painting that does not dwell on detail, but mainly aims at conveying the light and atmosphere. The houses and architectures along the Brenta are defined by quick yet controlled brushstrokes, while the water becomes the central point of the scene, collecting and reflecting the forms and colors of the landscape.
The palette is clear, played in pastel tones and delicate transitions, in line with a Venetian twentieth-century tradition attentive to diffuse luminosity and the relationships between sky, water, and architecture. The reflections on the river, rendered with soft and synthetic touches, give the work a serene and airy character.
