This is an antique traditional Moorish or Touareg table box.
Made of wood and featuring patterns in mixed metal.
Handcrafted in North Africa in the late 19th century.
These were used to store valuable objects; this one has a striking metal lock with the original key (to open and close: turn the key to the right and press/pull the lid).

Dit is een antiek traditionele Moorse of Touareg tafelkistje.
Vervaardigd uit hout en voorzien van patronen in gemengd metaal . 
Handgemaakt in Noord-Afrika in de late 19de eeuw.
Deze werden gebruikt om waardevolle voorwerpen in op te bergen , deze heeft een opvallend metalen slot met originele sleutel (voor het openen en sluiten : gelijktijdig sleutel naar rechts draaien en de klep aandrukken / trekken )
