Violin 4/4 manufactured before 1900, attributed to the Italian school, maker unknown with an unreadable label, finished in gold-brown varnish, in good condition and tested for use.
Description from the seller
I am offering a 4/4 violin made before 1900, attributed to the Italian school. The instrument has been assessed by a professional luthier in 2019. The author remains unknown, and the label is illegible.
The instrument is constructed from high-quality luthier’s wood:
- top plate – two-piece spruce,
- back plate – two-piece curly maple,
- ribs – curly maple,
- pegbox – solid curly maple.
The violin is finished with a gold-brown, shaded lacquer. The condition is described as good. Only normal, surface signs of use are visible in the form of small lacquer scratches appropriate for the instrument’s age.
Body dimensions:
- length of the back plate: 359 mm,
- upper bout width: 164 mm,
- lower bout width: 203 mm.
I am including with the instrument the luthier’s appraisal dated 15 January 2019, confirming the construction description, dating, and condition.
