The signature on the painting belongs to the Italian painter Giuseppe Malagodi (Cento, 1890 – Rome, 1968).
Biography:
Born in Cento, he moved to Rome as a child where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts on Via Ripetta. He was part of the famous group of Roman artists and actively participated in all editions of the Rome Quadriennale of Art from 1935 to 1955.
On the back of the canvas there is a circular stamp that is the guarantee label of the historic art gallery "Leonardo da Vinci" in Rome.
This specific label was applied to supports (stretched boards, panels or canvases) sold by the well-known Roman gallery. As Giuseppe Malagodi was an active painter in Rome in the mid-20th century, it is common to find his paintings executed on materials purchased from the capital's historic art shops.
