AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare!
Very nice oil painting on canvas in a military scene from the 19th century.
Signed by hand Dr Frédéric Lepine.
High-quality painting, the details, the colors, the reflections, very well designed.

It is a scene depicting a soldier in uniform in the company of two young women in front of a house or a chalet. In the background, other soldiers can be seen, which evokes a scene of departure or return from military service. On the right behind the tree two characters are discernible.
There is a small touch-up mark at the top, probably more recent.
The ambiance is romantic and narrative, typical of 19th-century painting.

Style: The composition, the warm colors and the treatment of the landscape recall a oil painting probably dating from 1850 to 1900.
Frame: The frame is richly decorated, Rococo style, with floral ornaments and a gilded finish. It could be antique.
There is a missing piece on one corner of the frame.
