Description from the seller

Pair of amphora-shaped vases in polychrome porcelain with gilding.

France, presumably Parisian manufacture, late 19th century

Description:
Elegant pair of amphora- or crater-shaped vases in black glazed porcelain, supported by a circular calyx foot and finished with a flared funnel neck with a gilded rim. The glassy surface of a deep, glossy black serves as a background to a rich and exuberant hand-painted decoration in polychrome enamels, which develops differently on the two faces of each piece.

Condition: Fair. One of the two vases shows an internal crack as shown in the photograph. There are no signs on the exterior surface that compromise the pictorial and ornamental enjoyment of the pair.
