AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pair of table lamps in bronze and polychrome and gilded porcelain. Period: Late 19th century – early 20th century.

Description:
Fine pair of table lamps (originally born as oil lamps and later electrified) in glazed hard porcelain, adorned with rich structural mounts in gilded and chased bronze. The central porcelain bodies, with a bulbous and sinuous silhouette, stand out for a vibrant and intense pink background coloration (fuchsia pink or Pompadour pink in the Sevres style), interrupted at the center by a wide white ring-band.

The central white reserve hosts a rich and refined floral composition, hand-painted in multicolored enamels with astonishing naturalistic rendering: tight clusters of open roses, poppies, primroses, daisies and small wildflowers intertwined with green leaves shaded in tones. The margins of this band and the upper and lower pink portions are richly gilded with real gold motifs of foliate scrolls and Rococo-inspired arabesques.

The vases rest on elaborate four-legged gilded bronze bases in the shape of foliate elements and pierced volutes. On top, the neck is encircled by a bronze collar that supports the faux oil burner, provided with a decorative adjustment key and topped by the lampshade holder. Both elements are completed by wide tapering parchment lampshades in ivory fabric, pleated, finished along the edges with a thin red cord matching the stems. (slight defects, require restoration)

The inner lower base of the bronze feet appears rough, bearing the central hole for the electric cable and lacks visible marks.

As for functionality, it is advisable to replace the electrical installation and to add a support for the lampshades.
