Description from the seller
Title: Eclipse (XXL)
Theme: "Eclipse" (XXL) belongs to the artistic line started more than 40 years ago by Fran González (Contemporary Gilding). His work focuses on reinterpretation of gilding as an artistic language and on contemporary luxury. In Fran González’s work, gold leaf and other metals (imitations or authentic) are used as expressive and symbolic materials, beyond their ornamental value.
"Eclipse" in particular is a large-scale work, elegant and luminous in golden light. Its rich textures, strong visual presence, and Zen aesthetics are a homage to the Energy of Life. This piece is designed to fill any interior space with magic and warmth.
The work is delivered with a certificate guaranteeing its originality, authorship, and provenance.
Technique: Acrylic and gold on synthetic canvas. Application of several layers of imitation gold leaf with acid patinas.
Warnings: to facilitate transport and reduce shipping costs, the work is delivered without stretcher and without frame, rolled up on itself and with a double protective wrapping.
It is also noted that color proportions appearing in some photo montages (mockups) may not always correspond to reality and are offered only as a reference for how the work functions in a contemporary interior context.
--------------------------------------
On gilding techniques: The traditional gilding technique consists of applying very thin sheets of metal (gold, silver, imitation gold (i.e., bronze), aluminum, copper, etc.) on any artistic surface (wood, metal, ceramics, textiles, etc.).
Contemporary Gilding: Contemporary gilding techniques are unique and exclusive to Fran González and derive from the experimental philosophy of 20th-century contemporary art, developed over more than 40 years of professional career, which give the works qualities that radiate a magical light that pervades the space where they are exhibited.

Fran González in the media:
(Article about FG in the European Portal of Craftsmanship "Mad’in Europe") (Excerpts)
"Fran(cisco) González is a ceramist, sculptor, painter, and contemporary gilder whose practice fuses traditional craftsmanship and innovative technique. With over four decades of experience, his work reflects a continuous dialogue between material, process, and inspiration. His main gilding method, used about 80% of the time, is water gilding, chosen for its lower toxicity and sustainability, especially when working indoors...
A large part of Francisco’s work is inspired by archaeological artifacts and ancient cultures. Whether Greeks, Etruscans, Phoenicians, Romans, Chinese, Japanese, or the rich hybrid Arab culture in Spain, his fascination lies not only in the forms and techniques of the past but in the emotional resonance they carry. This emotional depth permeates his ceramics, gilded sculptures, and even his evolving work in jewelry design.
This curiosity led him to prehistoric origins and, gradually, to experimenting with new materials and forms..."
