Large decorative Spanish silver-plated copper tray dating from the mid-20th century.
The tray features a finely embossed central scene inspired by Don Quixote, illustrating an episode from Chapter VIII of Miguel de Cervantes' famous novel. The inscription "Thus came, as has been said, Don Quixote... Chapter VIII" is incorporated into the design.
The richly decorated border displays scrolling foliage together with equestrian and hunting motifs including horse heads, a greyhound and the figure of a seated writer, most likely representing Cervantes.
The tray retains the embossed mark "Modelo Registrado" (Registered Design), indicating a protected Spanish design.
An attractive collector's piece suitable both for display and as decorative tableware.
