Maximilien Luce is a key figure within French Post-Impressionism. He was good friends with, among others, Paul Signac and Lucien Pisarro, but also with Constantin Meunier, Emile Verhaeren and Theo Van Rysselberghe.

After World War I, the Parisian post-impressionist retreated to the rural Rolleboise, a village near the Seine.

Maximilien Luce is een sleutelfiguur binnen het Franse postimpressionisme. Hij was goed bevriend met onder meer Paul Signac en Lucien Pisarro, maar ook met Constantin Meunier, Emile Verhaeren en Theo Van Rysselberghe.

Na de Eerste Wereldoorlog trok de Parijse postimpressionist zich terug in het landelijke Rolleboise, een dorpje bij de Seine.
