Description from the seller
Penthesilea, the legendary Queen of the Amazons in Greek mythology, was one of the most powerful female warriors of the Trojan War. Leading her all-female army, she entered the battlefield after the death of Hector, fighting alongside the Trojans with remarkable skill, courage, and determination.
Renowned for her strength and grace, Penthesilea became a symbol of both beauty and ferocity in combat. Her story reaches its tragic climax in her final confrontation with Achilles, where she fought bravely but ultimately met her fate. According to myth, even her enemy was struck by her presence in the moment of her fall.
This artwork captures the essence of that timeless figure—a warrior poised between power and destiny, embodying the silent intensity before the final battle.
