Description from the seller
"Tinder Boy 4", oil on card, 25.5 x 17.5 cm, 2026
Oil painting on 1 mm thick card.
Signed and dated in the lower left corner.
Painting with varnish.
The series "Tinder boy" stems from images received by different women on dating apps and social networks, where the male body is frequently exposed in search of an immediate reaction. Many of these images are sent without being requested, reflecting a culture of communication increasingly marked by speed, the incessant circulation of images and the constant need to provoke and capture the gaze of the other.
The series seeks to reflect on this circuit of the gaze: the pleasure of being seen, the pleasure of looking, and how both feed off each other in a visual and communicative economy where images are produced to be consumed in a moment of attention, before being quickly replaced by others, in the simple gesture of swiping to the next.
Between humor and irony, these paintings question a culture in which the body becomes image, the image becomes a commodity, and desire increasingly blends with the need for exposure and with the desire to exist through the gaze of the other.
Patrícia Trindade (1989) is a Portuguese artist with a degree in Plastic Arts and a Master of Painting, both from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.
Although over the years she has devoted herself to various series of painting with diverse themes, the male figure has become the central element of her work. This has served as the leitmotif for various approaches and narratives - from the objectification of the body, to erotism, to homosexuality and voyeurism – that question the usual representations of virility and passivity of gender in iconographic representations.
*IMPORTANT: Due to restrictions imposed by Portuguese carriers and shipping limitations beyond my control, orders cannot be shipped to the United States.*
