Medsan Bushido Arcade (武士道のアーケード) - Handmade!, a 40 × 40 cm original acrylic and mixed media painting on canvas, signed by the artist, created in 2026, depicting a Geisha with a neon blue mask in a cyberpunk Pop Art style, framed on wood, from France, with a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
Acrylic and mixed-media technique on canvas, stretched on a wooden frame – hand-signed – 2026
Artwork signed by Medsan, artist with membership in Atelier Joconde, known for reinterpreting cultural icons and his/her bold stylistic fusions.
With this original square work, Medsan presents a renewed, modern and transgressive view of traditional Japan. The painting stages a classic figure of Nipponic iconography – a Geisha in the midst of a ceremony, wrapped in a magnificent kimono with dense floral patterns – reinterpreted with the visual radicality of contemporary urban and cyberpunk culture.
The visual and temporal contrast is striking: clad in a majestic, brick-orange kimono adorned with peonies, chrysanthemums and stylized waves in silver and gold, our Geisha holds her folded Sensu fan with graceful, timeless suppleness in a choreography of traditional dance movements. Her elaborately styled updo, edged with bright kanzashi and tiny blossoms, testifies to the absolute finesse of the Edo-go‑kō women’s craft. Yet where her face would typically be powdered with shimmering white and lipstick in carmine red, a neon blue, glowing mask of light instead glides in – simple and cool, as if the Geisha’s identity had been absorbed by a digital entity. This glowing mask, a strong hallmark of the break in pop culture, creates a striking contrast to the lush ornamentation of the millennia-old costume.
The artwork’s impact rests heavily on the single, deep Bordeaux red background, powerful and theatrical. Worked with acrylic paints and mixed media, the canvas displays beautiful textile effects and a carefully glossy finish. This bold aesthetics, inspired by Pop Art and the Cyberpunk movement, explodes the contrasts between the meticulous richness of Ukiyo-e and the cold simplicity of contemporary neon. Top right bears the signature “Medsan” in Japanese script (Katakana), framed in a red cartouche by black, as seen on vintage Japan posters, sealing this perfect fusion.
A handmade piece with enormous charisma. Ideal for giving an interior a colorful, urban, absurd and unmistakably cyberpunk touch.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathering around a vibrant and plural contemporary creation. As a genuine production site for art, the atelier operates both in collective creation and in individual projects, depending on the work and plan. Atelier Joconde is also a family project. Le Yack, contemporary figurative painter, develops narrative and introspective work with cinematic and realistic influences. At his side, Medsan follows a Pop-Art influence, exploring color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo manifests in a more instinctive search that combines abstract art, raw art and figurative abstraction. Each work is thoughtfully conceived, produced and accompanied in the studio, with a shared artistic ambition and each artist’s own identity.
