The artwork.
represents the passage of the work from the exterior wall to the interior space of buildings. What is born on the street, in the urban public context, is transferred inside palaces, houses or museums, completely changing the environment and meaning. In this case, the wall section deemed most interesting is selected and cut out, the one on which the street artist had carried out his exterior intervention. The fragment is then detached from the original street context and transformed into an autonomous object. Once cut out, this piece of wall can be moved and placed indoors: in homes, in buildings, in museums or other structures. In this way the work changes environment and function, moving from the public and everyday space of the street to a private or institutional space, where it is preserved and displayed as a true artistic object. All this represents a kind of imagined reconstruction by the artist, reflecting on the process of moving the work from the urban context to the domestic or museum setting.
The natural imperfections, marks and dents of the materials are not defects but an integral part of the work: they testify to its urban lived experience and reinforce its typical Street Art identity.
