Description from the seller
Oil on canvas
Size: 50 x 37 cm
This work explores the duality of the human condition through a figure seen from behind, embraced by a dark presence that seems to emerge from the body itself. The contrast between the warm, luminous tones of the skin and the black silhouette creates a visual tension that symbolizes the constant dialogue between light and shadow, vulnerability and strength, identity and the unconscious.
The minimalist composition, set against a turquoise background, directs all attention to the body language and the emotional intensity of the scene. More than depicting a struggle, the piece invites interpretation of that embrace as an act of acceptance, reconciliation, and inner transformation.
It is a piece of contemporary figurative art that seeks to connect with the viewer on an emotional level, leaving room for personal interpretation.
Artist: Lisbet Cuellar, with a degree in Theatrical Art in the Scenic Design profile, at ISA (Institute of Higher Arts), Cuba
Other studies: introductory course in Visual Arts, Centro Experimental de las Artes Visuales "Antonio Díaz Peláez", Havana, Cuba
Group exhibitions:
