This work is historic: the author presents one of the very first scientific theories of continental drift (before Alfred Wegener), drawing on the complementarity of the shapes of Africa and South America. Unique and precious copy enriched with a signed autograph inscription (dedication) by the author at the top of the half-title: "To Mr. E. Nic... With kind regards, A. Snider". The book is also distinguished by its exceptional binding in full red morocco with richly gilt compartments. Edges fully gilt with fine gold. Marbled endpapers.
