Description from the seller
From Zenith, one of the most prestigious brands in the watchmaking world, this is the legendary Defy model—nicknamed the "Time Safe" during its production in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and iconic for its extraordinary design and robustness. Featuring a magnificent burgundy-red vignette/fading dial that darkens from the center outward and its characteristic octagonal case, it is a true collector's piece.
Technical Specifications
Brand / Model: Zenith Defy Automatic (Vintage)
Movement: Powered by the original Swiss-made, high-beat, and legendary Zenith Caliber 2552 PC automatic movement. The clean, high-condition movement that serves as the heart of this watch is showcased in full detail in image . It includes a date window positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock.
Case Diameter: Approximately 37 mm excluding the winding crown. Thanks to its octagonal shape and thick contours reflecting the futuristic design language of the era, it exhibits a very substantial and powerful presence on the wrist
Case Structure: Crafted entirely from stainless steel. Its sharp lines and brushed/polished surface transitions preserve its period condition. The side profiles of the case can be inspected in photograph
Caseback: Screw-down stainless steel caseback. Zenith's signature embossed four-pointed Defy star logo is clearly visible on the outer surface of the caseback . The inner caseback features the original "Zenith - Swiss Made - Acier Inoxydable" hallmarks along with the patent numbers 1808-68
Dial and Hands:, burgundy-red gradient dial. Large, distinctive block indices and thick hands complete the futuristic architecture of the dial. The dial condition can be viewed up close in images
Condition & Restoration Details
Operational Status: The automatic movement and date transitions function smoothly and fluidly, keeping highly accurate time
Winding Crown: Due to use or wear over the years, the winding crown is not original to the watch; however, it has been replaced with a high-quality crown that is fully compatible with the steel structure of the case and the movement functions
Strap & Buckle: The stainless steel bracelet and clasp/buckle currently on the watch are not original . A high-quality aftermarket integrated steel bracelet was chosen to complement the visuals without disrupting the iconic structure and vintage spirit of the Defy case.
Dial Repainted
Please Note: The watch is in period condition, with the winding crown and steel bracelet having been replaced later. Due to its age, it may bear hairline scratches. Because of its antique nature, no water resistance warranty is provided. Any customs duties and taxes that may arise from cross-border or international shipments are entirely the responsibility of the buyer. Please review all macro photos carefully before
