Sagrasse (1966) - Calavera Pop Art

Sagrasse (Sandro Grassetti, born in 1966) is an artisan artist from Marche whose life runs deep in skilled craftsmanship. For forty years he has worked in the shadow of his workshop in a small municipality between the hills of Marche, specializing at the highest levels in resin work, varnishing and electroplating.

The turning point of his life comes with the COVID-19 pandemic: the forced lockdown and the suspension of time become an emotional catalyst, pushing him to unleash the artistic urgency he had always kept hidden. What for decades had been “only” an excellent technique thus becomes the means to give life to modern, vibrant and ironic pop sculptures. Today Sagrasse has transformed his know-how as a craftsman into a recognized language of contemporary art, proving that it is never too late to give voice to one’s most authentic talent.
