BIOGRAPHY
My name is Roberta Giuffrè, I was born in San Giovanni Rotondo (Foggia) in 1996. My approach to painting is very gestural because I manage to highlight actions in a free and direct connection with the artistic material I use. The artistic research I have tied myself to focuses predominantly on the materiality of bodies, on the skin and the flesh, accompanied by a study that revolves around the human figure, static or in motion. Although the nudes are whole, the aim is to move away from academicism, concentrating attention on the physical aspect of the body, highlighting the flesh in its integrity, without ideals and stereotypes. It is a concept that involves vulnerability, intimacy and our relationship with what of us is matter. My paintings aim to exalt the skin we inhabit, highlighting proxemics (the spatial-postural attitude of the body), movement that connects to a behavioral explanation of the human being. With the use of material painting (a combination of colors, textures and synthetic or natural materials) one brings to life something deep and real, creating three-dimensionality on the canvas. The resulting effect is a work not only to be seen, but also “to touch”.

2021: finalist in the artistic-musical project titled "Come musica" with artistic direction by Ettore Bassi, in Fasano, Brindisi and Bari.
