Medsan presents Gundam (巨神守護傳) - UNIQUE WORK, a 40 × 40 cm giclée mounted on a wooden panel, hand-signed, edition limited to 1/1, created in 2026, in excellent condition, depicting a Pop Art take on a Gundam in a retro Showa kaiju poster style, sold directly from the artist.
Description from the seller
THERE EXISTS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format artwork, Medsan imagines an old Japanese cinema poster featuring a Gundam, the iconic giant robot signed Yoshiyuki Tomino. Standing above a mountain village at dusk, rifle in hand and glowing eyes, the mechanical colossus towers over a crowd of villagers in kimonos who watch him, spellbound, in a blazing sunset. The cartouche announces “メドサン 巨神守護傳” — the legend of the protective god-giant. This single giclée pastiches the golden age of tokusatsu.
The visual power of the composition lies in its retro poster language: precise illustration lines, ornamental borders, calligraphic lettering, and a warm palette of oranges. The mecha, rendered with meticulous care, overlooks a landscape of terraced rice fields and traditional houses, in an aesthetic that blends woodblock prints and kaiju eiga cinema from the Showa-era studios.
The impact of the work comes from nostalgic subversion: the robot from a modern anime raised to the rank of protective deity of ancestral Japan, like an old big-budget production found again. Medsan plays with the collision between mecha science fiction and traditional Japanese popular imagery, in a tender homage.
A graphic, narrative, and spectacular piece, ideal for adding a pop, retro, and decidedly original touch to a collector’s interior — a favorite for fans of manga, mecha, and Japanese culture.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collaborative creation and individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family adventure. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
