BIOGRAPHY
My name is Roberta Giuffrè, I was born in San Giovanni Rotondo (Foggia) in 1996. My approach to painting is very gestural because I can highlight actions in a free and direct connection with the artistic material I use. The artistic research I am tied to focuses mainly on the materiality of bodies, skin and complexion, accompanied by a study that revolves around the human figure, static or in motion. As for nudity, although full, the aim is to move away from academicism, concentrating attention on the physical aspect of the body, highlighting the flesh in its integrity, without ideals and stereotypes. It is a concept that involves vulnerability, intimacy, and our relationship with what of us is material. My paintings aim to exalt the skin we inhabit, emphasizing proxemics (the spatial-postural attitude of the body), a movement that connects to a behavioral explanation of the human being. With the use of material painting (a combination of colors, textures and synthetic or natural materials) something deep and real comes to life, creating a tridimensionality on the canvas. The resulting effect is a work not only to look at, but also to “touch.”
